Dance Friends For Life!

What a BLAST the start of the year has been in our studio. Every day entering the studio building has been filled with smiles and joy. Lots of happy faces and such a buzz of positive ENERGY everywhere!

Dance is so much more than just an afterschool activity. It is a second home for so many of our students. The place where they rejuvenate after a tiring day at school.

The dance studio is their happy place. Dance is a combination of Movement and Music: both critical to release pent up energy and emotions. Back in my own dance days, no matter what happened at school, knowing that I had dance that afternoon, put a spring in my step and a smile on my face.

It is so rewarding to see new friendships emerging in our young beginning dancers. Knowing that in future years they will have solid life long, high quality friendships and support networks, is extremely gratifying.

I love watching our tweens and teens supporting each other, and mentoring our younger dancers. My deepest friendships are still my dance friends, decades into my own dance journey.

On those days when your dancer hops in the car after school and says, “I don’t want to go to dance today”, remember that thought comes from the weariness of the day. Dance is in fact, the very thing that will ensure they go home feeling happy, safe and secure within themselves. Younger ones may resist a little. Sometimes getting into dance uniform just seems too hard! But oh what a reward you will have, seeing your dancer end the class with a big smile, with warm hugs from their friends and teachers. The lethargy from school, completely gone!

Making a commitment to attend every class, sets them up for future success. Being able to push through to find a way to flick your mindset into a different state is a skill to master as early as possible in this journey of life. Regular attendance also helps emerging friendships to blossom. As I once heard someone say, “You never regret the workout you did!”. I would like to add to that: “But you will always rue the session you missed!”

Do your best to encourage your dancer to attend every session, help them build resilience, and form strong bonds. Keep an eye on our upcoming social events for our students. These are so important to consolidate budding friendships.

Watch out for the info coming soon and book your dancers’ place quickly!
